Trotters face backlash for its Trotters City Game Day Mixtape!
Written by Nick Blair
After careful consideration by its Marketing and Promotions teams the St. Louis Trotters have decided to push back the release of its Trotters City GameDay Mixtape hosted by The Durtty Boyz.
“The day the news broke that we decided to release a mixtape on BJack’s Industry314blog.com most of the independent St. Louis music recording industry erupted in anger that we didn’t allow submissions,” says Trotters Co-Owner D. Smith. No stranger to the music industry after working with Notifi Music Group under Ira Dewitt and his work with the city’s current Hip Hop standout Tef Poe; Smith figured that the project as long as it represented top talent in “the Lou” and featured artists from around the Independent Basketball Association it would be a solid release. When Coors’ Light “Coldest M.C.” contest winner Mr. Hyde of Chicago decided he would release a song, I figured we’d role with what we had.” But Last Wednesday however when the blog was posted Dir. of Promotions, Jackie ‘Jp’ Phillips and others received many phone calls and messages from St. Louis artists upset that they never got a shot at being on the project. Smith released a statement:
“I have so much respect for the amount of talent in St. Louis, no other city in America has the level of talent that exists here in St. Louis. If anyone felt slighted by not being included, I do apologize and the St. Louis Trotters organization would love to offer other artists a shot a being considered for the project.”
