After finishing the season with a 13-3 record, the St. Louis received several awards from the IBA. Leading the way was head coach Harold Webster, assistant coach Marlon Pepper, received the Coach of the Year. “It was an honor to have my coaching staff recognized for their hard work this session. Our coaching staff does a great job preparing us for each game” says team owner Milan Pepper.
The second award was received by our all-star guard and team co-captain Nicholas ‘Nico’ Reed was the Defensive Player of the Year. Nico is one of the best defensive players on the St. Louis Trotters. He can defend the opponent’s best player regardless of their size. Whether he’s guarding a forward or another guard, his height and quickness makes it difficult for his opponents to score. “He’s always up for a challenge” says Milan Pepper.
The last honor received by the St. Louis Trotters was the Community Service Award. This award is given to the team that is heavily involved in the community. With the help of V.P. DeWarren Smith, CFO Marlon Pepper and COO Barbara Pepper, the St. Louis Trotter have partnered with several organizations such as the Share My Kickz Foundation, LACE, #1 Fan Volunteering Agency and Better Family Life. The Trotters have participated in the basketball camp BBall for all for youth on the autism spectrum, a panel discussion for Black Manhood and J-Walk’N A Walk For a Purpose with the Larry Hughes foundation just to name a few.
