We would like to thank the many people who have supported us this season as we take on the best and brightest of the Independent Basketball Association. The road hasn’t been easy and there have been many road blocks. There are many who are excited to hear about our efforts to “Bring the ‘spirit’ of professional basketball back to St. Louis,” and there are some who totally reject the notion of a pro basketball team here at all because they feel it will not be supported. The only response that I can give to the naysayers, is something I heard from one of John F. Kennedy’s famous speeches:
“But why, some say, the moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?
We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.” -JFK
You can very well consider having a successful professional basketball franchise in St. Louis, like going to the moon over 40 years ago. Many people think it is impossible but President and team owner Milan Pepper and Head Coach Harold Webster one day decided that they wanted to go to the moon by making the St. Louis Trotters Professional Basketball Club a reality.
